Subject line:

In the Cesspool there is a mysterious cocoon, closed with a simple key. After opening it, the body of the God-seeker will fall out, which will be unconscious until the Knight completes one of the pantheons. Other God-seekers also live in her mind, but the main one, apparently, is the God-seeker.

The purpose of the God-seeker is vague and unclear: she tries to "align" with the God of the gods, passing through the lower gods. Although the beetle is rude to the Knight, apparently, without his help, she will not be able to reach the last pantheon, where the "most radiant of the gods" dwells.

Passing the pantheon one by one, the Knight can learn a little more about the mission of the God-seeker. So, her brethren previously worshiped other gods who left them (or perhaps just died). The bug is trying to find a god who could save her family from the "silence of the mind", in connection with which the Supreme Radiance is the best candidate. Be that as it may, it is possible that the Light of the Pale King, not the Radiance, brought her to Hallownest.

Having defeated the majestic version of his brother in the fourth pantheon, the Knight finds himself in the Abyss, surrounded by other Vessels and another small Hollow Knight. The blackness is torn apart by a ray of light that appears from above, which becomes more and more, after which particles of emptiness fly up towards it. Awakening from a strange vision, the Knight goes to the fifth pantheon and, having reached the very top, meets face to face with the Most High Radiance.

Accept emptiness

At the end of the battle, the Knight turns into the Lord of Shadows - such a transformation may be due to the fact that the main character was able to ascend to the top of the pantheon, which means that he became even stronger than Radiance. Grabbing the goddess, the Lord of Shadows inflicts blows over and over again until he kills the Almighty (it is important to note that he just kills her, and does not drag her into the void).

The God-seeker with surprise and fear sees how emptiness begins to pour from heaven. The Shadow Lord descends, grabbing the beetle with the tentacles of the void to get out of its mind. Then you can see how gradually the body of the God-seeker in the real world begins to tremble, and emptiness drips from it, after which the body turns black, and black tentacles break out of it - the Lord of Shadows gets out.

Next, we are shown the Temple of the Black Egg, where Hornet stands, looking at the "withering" vines filled with the Plague. Immediately after that, footsteps and the clinking of chains are heard - the Hollow Knight emerges from the egg, who has freed himself from the obligation to be a repository for the Plague. Hornet takes a defensive stance - The vessel grips the nail tighter.
